How much does EDDM cost in 2026?
Prices updated October 2026.
How much does EDDM cost? Postage is $0.260 a piece at Retail in 2026. Printing adds the rest. With us, a 6.25 x 9 postcard comes to $0.52 a home all in at 1,000 homes and $0.44 at 5,000. So 1,000 homes runs $520 and 5,000 homes $2,200.
EDDM postage in 2026
USPS sets EDDM postage. Since July 12, 2026, EDDM Retail is $0.260 a piece. If you drop at a Business Mail Entry Unit (BMEU), it is $0.259 a piece.
Retail EDDM takes 200 to 5,000 pieces per ZIP Code per day, and you do not need a permit. Postage is the one part of the price that is the same no matter who prints your cards.
Print cost: size, stock, and quantity
Print is where the EDDM cost per piece moves. Three things set it:
- Size. EDDM pieces must be flats. A standard 4 x 6 postcard does not qualify. We print 6.25 x 9, 8.5 x 7, 8.5 x 11, 8.5 x 12, 9 x 12, and 8.5 x 14. Bigger cards cost more.
- Stock. Thicker paper and special coatings cost more.
- Quantity. The per card price drops as the run gets larger, because setup is spread over more cards.
With us, printing and prep on a 6.25 x 9 card is $0.26 a card at 1,000 homes and $0.18 at 5,000. Add $0.26 postage and you get $0.52 and $0.44 a home.
How that compares
For a market check in October 2026, large national EDDM services listed about $0.68 a home for 1,000 cards (6.25 x 9), $0.59 for 2,500, and $0.49 for 5,000, postage included. Prices change, so get a current quote from anyone you compare.
Worked example
| Homes | Print and prep | Postage at $0.26 | Our total | Typical national price |

Prices for a 6.25 x 9 card. Postage is rounded to $0.26. Your size and stock will change the print column. If you would rather drop the mail yourself, print only starts at $0.17 a card. Run your own numbers in the EDDM cost calculator.
Doing it yourself vs done for you
You can run EDDM yourself. The postage is the same. What you trade is time:
- Routes. Pick carrier routes on the USPS map and count homes.
- Printing. Find a printer who knows EDDM sizes and the indicia.
- Facing slips and bundling. Bundle the cards by route and add a facing slip to each bundle.
- Drop-off. Take the bundles to the right post office and fill out the forms.
For one small run, doing it yourself can make sense. If you mail every month, done for you usually costs less than your own hours. With us, you get a proof in 1 business day, we print and drop within 3 business days after approval, and USPS delivers in 3 to 10 business days.
Hidden costs to ask about
Direct mail cost is more than print and postage. Ask any provider about these before you pay:
- Design. Is a template included, or is custom design extra?
- Proofs. How many rounds of changes are free?
- Rush. Is there a fee to print faster?
- Call tracking. Is a tracked phone number and QR code included, or extra? Without it, you cannot work out your cost per lead.
