How to use this EDDM online tool

Start from a point that matters to you. That can be your shop or office, a listing you want to sell, or streets where you already have past jobs. Then add the routes around it.

  • Your shop. Dental offices, restaurants, and churches do best with the homes closest to the door. People pick places near home.
  • Your listing. Real estate agents mail the routes around a new listing or a sale. See the real estate guide.
  • Your past jobs. Lawn care and HVAC crews mail the routes where they already work. Neighbors trust a company the house next door uses.

Reaching businesses (B2B routes)

Sell to other businesses? Choose Homes and businesses. Your card then goes to every home and every business on the routes you pick. USPS does not allow a business-only EDDM mailing, so pick the routes where businesses make up the biggest share.

  • Look for the “Business route” tag. It marks routes where at least 15% of the stops are businesses. These are main streets, strip centers, and office parks.
  • Who it fits. Commercial cleaning, IT support, office coffee and water, commercial HVAC and roofing, sign shops, staffing, payroll, insurance, and logo apparel or company stores.
  • Write for the front desk. The person who opens the mail is often the office manager. Put the offer and the phone number on the front, in large type.

Each carrier route covers roughly 400 to 700 homes. Most first mailings use four to eight routes. EDDM Retail allows up to 5,000 pieces per ZIP Code per day.

How the EDDM route map works

The yellow marker is your business. Shaded areas are carrier routes. Tap a route on the map or check it in the list. The total updates as you go, so you see the price before you start an order. Want the full cost picture? See plans and pricing.
